More than 180 representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises and personal data protection specialists took part in the Final International Conference under the SMEDATA Project, held online on October 28, 2020. The forum was organized by the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

Representatives of the Italian supervisory authority, Roma Tre University, the Italian National Association of the Craft Industry took part in the individual sessions. The partners from Bulgaria were represented by the Commission for Personal Data Protection, APIS Europe and Ernst & Young Bulgaria.

During the event, the results achieved under the SMEDATA Project were discussed and summarized. The current challenges to the processing of personal data were also commented on, especially in the context of the global Covid-19 pandemic. Good practices were shared on the proper processing of personal data by data controllers, and in particular by the project target group – small and medium-sized enterprises. Also, interesting presentations on the topic of pseudonymization of personal data, security and data breach were shown.
