On October 28, 2020, the Italian Data Protection Authority and the Commission for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Bulgaria (CPDP) are organising a final international conference within the framework of the SMEDATA project. The event, which will be held online, will review the results of the activities carried out within the project, aimed at raising awareness of personal data protection among representatives of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Current challenges to the processing of personal data, including aspects imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, will also be discussed.

Moderators of the discussions will be the Chairman of CPDP Ventsislav Karadjov, Luigi Montuori – Head of the EU and International Affairs Office of the Italian Data Protection Authority, prof. Carlo Colapietro from the University of Roma Tre, Rome, and others.

The conference includes four panels on various topics related to the processing and protection of personal data:

  1. The experience of the SMEDATA Project: results of the awareness raising activity and multiplication of GDPR training for SMEs
  2. The processing of personal data in SMEs, also in the light of the requirements imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic: comparing experiences
  3. Good practices for the proper processing of personal data by SMEs
  4. Pseudonymisation, security and data breach.
